Bear Week Provincetown FAQ

History and overview of our event.

Bear Week Provincetown was created in 2001 by John Burrows and the PtownBears organization to celebrate the Bear community, its admirers and those who just love hanging with the Bear community. It is a week of parties, BBQ s, charity events, lazy days at the beach or relaxing at one the 3 pools in town. Events are spread out across the entire town with each venue having different events throughout the week.

Want to explore the town on your own schedule?

All events are open to the public. You can check out any of the many dance clubs, piano bars and shows along Commercial St. and just pay that club’s cover charge or buy a ticket for a show. Traditionally, everyone ends their night at the nightly block party out front of Spiritus Pizza or catch a bite at one of the many late night pizza places or local food concessions throughout town.

If shopping is your passion, Ptown has got you covered.

Enjoy shops of every type down the length of Commercial St. and Bradford St.. Enjoy shopping in many of the clothing shops, antique shops, import and craft shops. Looking for that special piece of artwork? Ptown has one of the largest collection of galleries to be found on Cape Cod. Looking for a bargain? There are eclectic thrift stores and second hand boutiques throughout the town.

While visiting Ptown take in some of the history of the first landing site of the Pilgrims.

Visit the Provincetown Museum and climb the Pilgrim Monument for the best views of the town and the Cape. There are also daily ghost tours, historical walking tours and the Ptown Trolley tours through town and the Province Lands. Don’t forget the ever popular Art’s Dune Tours with their sunset tours and clambake or the Provincetown Trolley’s Sunset Beach Tour, Wine & Beverage Tour or Cape Cod Lighthouses Tour!

Looking to stay in town or in a neighboring town?

There are hotels, motels, B&B’s, AirBnBs and condo rentals to be found throughout the local area. Just be aware that many locations book up quickly since this is such a popular week long event. We recommend using the following sites for more info on booking a room: Provincetown Chamber of Commerce, Ptown Tourism.
